Adobe Photoshop 27.6 — What’s New?

Adobe continues refining Photoshop with version 27.6, focusing on smarter AI, better accuracy, and smoother workflows and some new features.

This Adobe Photoshop 27.6 update builds on previous releases but adds real, usable improvements across multiple tools.

Rotate Objects on Canvas

Photoshop's rotate object was actually in the beta version, and now its LIVE. Rotate object lets you turn flat objects into rotatable elements directly on the canvas.

you can find the rotate object function when you use ctrl/commad + t to transoform the layer or from edit > rotate object

The results are honestly okay, not perfect! but defiantely usable as I have used it myself to turn stuff that didn't fit on the canvas correctly although you should be careful when usnig it on people because its not always relieable, and may change the subject a little.

Cleaner, Smarter Layers

you can find this feature under the layers panel

Managing layers just got easier.

Photoshop can now:

• Remove empty layers

• Automatically rename layers based on content

  
  

I have used it does rename the things it detects but it didn't rename everything It’s a small change doesn't hurt to press for some quick clean ups it might help keeping large projects organized without manual cleanup.

Better Generative AI (Across the Board)

Adobe upgraded its AI models again and has seperated partner models from firefly, and it shows:

• Firefly Image 5 has been added

• Generative Fill & Expand now use newer Firefly models

• More realistic results and better prompt understanding

• More consistent variations when generating content

• Upload multiple reference images for better control

This isn’t a new feature it’s a noticeable quality upgrade.

Dynamic Text (More Flexible Layouts)

this can be found in the contextual bar when using the text tool

I love this feature because you had to customize the word individually to get this effect. text now adapts automatically to shapes and paths.

As you resize or adjust layouts, the text reflows on its own—making typography feel more responsive and easier to control.

Better Gradient Controls

Gradients are now more flexible:

• More control over direction and color transitions

• Ability to refine gradients after applying them

  
  

It gives you more precision without redoing the effect.

Reflection Removal

you can find this feature in edit > reflection removal

You can now remove reflections from photos taken through glass so its usage is very specific I still haven't experimented with it.

Photoshop separates the reflection and the image into layers, giving you cleaner, non-destructive edits.

New File Format Support

Photoshop now supports:

• AVIF

Better compression and more modern format support for workflows.
